Gaming in Education

Video games are sometimes regarded as time-wasters requiring little intellectual capacity. However, research reveals that educational gaming not only offers meaningful and challenging learning environments, but also quite effectively aids in the development of cognitive skills and engaging experimental learning opportunities.

This half-day session will introduce educators to the various uses and benefits of standards-based gaming in the development of successful and progressive learners. Through demonstration, discussion, and play the session will engage and inspire participants to view gaming in a new light—one where students both learn and play via a 21st Century digital gaming experience. Participants will also be given access to a repository of free virtual games designed to improve skills and knowledge for K-12 students.
