PARENTS
Children in 7 th-9 th grades in
West Virginia who had an interest in learning math and science through engaging, hands-on Information Technology (IT) projects, participated in CITERA (Comprehensive Information Technology Education in Rural Appalachia). Unlike many extracurricular programs, participation in CITERA was not based on academic performance, but on student interest and potential to pursue careers in IT. CITERA was designed to provide an experience that both challenged and encouraged children by providing activities based on cutting edge IT research.
CITERA was facilitated by scientists from the WVHTC, FSU faculty, trainers from The EdVenture Group, and West Virginia teachers.
