ABOUT US
Comprehensive Information Technology Education in Rural Appalachia (CITERA) was a 3 year project sponsored by the National Science Foundation (NSF)
and Information Technology Experience for Students and Teachers (ITest) and was deigned to introduce students and teachers to careers and educational pathways in Information Technology (IT).
CITERA brought together the West Virginia High Technology Consortuim Foundation, Fairmont State University, The EdVenture Group, Inc., and 7th through 9th grade students and teachers from North Central West Virginia through summer workshops and yearlong follow up activities.
CITERA used real world IT projects developed at the WVHTCF laboratories in Fairmont, West Virginia to provide context and motivation for teachers and students. The IT topic was 3-Graphics & Virtual Reality Modeling Language.
